Measuring Histories

 

In this project, I created a piece representing a family tradition of mine. Every time that we are celebrating anyones birthday, we must always eat a dish of long noodles (the birthday person must always eat the first). We eat these long noodles to both wish for and celebrate a person living a long life.  To represent this, I created my own noodle sculpture with one, long noodle coiled at the top with the beautiful and exciting 98 years of my great-grandfather's life story written along it.
