Drawing Challenge: Mark Making in "Hidden Places"

I spent a lot of time over the summer going through and getting rid of a great amount of furniture from my grandparents house. In the process of doing this, I found multiple pieces of furniture with drawings, messages, and tags of my name that I made when I was little. Being reminded of these tags of my work that I used to leave in the house, I was inspired by my five year old art making process. I sought to create both updated and imitated tags and drawings from when I was little, while embracing the act of placing these tags and drawings in places that are hard to be seen and in places that are not typically "meant" to be drawn on.

PIECE #1

I decided to take a set of wooden coasters, one of which I had already drawn on, and create images that are representative of little me, my family, and my growth from then to now.

PIECE #2
I sought to simultaneously embrace the idea of (1) drawing on an object that is not "meant" to have my added drawing and (2) putting those drawings in hard-to-see places on the bottle.

PIECES #3-5
With the last three pieces, I focused more on replicating the rebellious feeling that I experienced when trying to find and place my drawings in hidden places. I spent more time with these pieces running around, trying to find the best places to put my work, or crawling under hard to reach spaces and adding my drawings there.

Inspiration:

TAKASHI MURAKAMI
I was drawn to Takashi Murakami's very cute and cartoon-like style.

BANKSY
I was inspired by the rebelliousness added into Banksy's artistic process.
